The Short Version
WE NEVER SEE YOUR PRIVATE LIBRARY INFORMATION. Under no circumstances does GenCatalog product analytics collect or send your images, videos, prompts, filenames, file paths, URLs, tags, notes, collections, account information, license information, thumbnails, hashes, item IDs, generated content, or a persistent device identifier. Your library stays on your machine. Anonymous product analytics contain limited counts about how GenCatalog features are used and whether they work as expected — never your creative work or identity.
1. What GenCatalog Is
GenCatalog is a desktop application and Chrome browser extension that helps you save and organize AI-generated images and videos from platforms like Grok Imagine, Gemini, GPT Image, Rogue Studio, Midjourney, Higgsfield, Digen, and Venice.ai. It is developed and operated by Second Act Labs ("we", "us", "our").
2. Data the App and Extension Collect
The GenCatalog desktop app and Chrome extension do not collect personal information or browsing history. There is no account, no cloud sync, and no server-side copy of your catalog.
Anonymous product analytics are on by default only after GenCatalog shows a clear notice. Nothing is recorded before that notice is acknowledged. The notice offers an immediate Turn off analytics choice, and the same control remains available anytime in Settings > Privacy. An explicit earlier opt-out stays off. An older installation that merely inherited the former default-off setting, without any recorded choice, is shown the refreshed notice and remains unable to record until that notice is acknowledged.
Anonymous analytics are limited to counts and broad categories about app activity, feature use, approximate library-size ranges, settings and maintenance actions, capture reliability, app or extension version, operating-system family, whether a save is an image or video, and whether the one-time Chrome Web Store review request is shown, opened, or dismissed. The review-request count uses only broad catalog-size and license-age ranges plus an allowlisted successful action category. Analytics also include one-time anonymous milestones such as trial start, extension connection, first successful save, first meaningful library-management use, reaching five saves plus library management, purchase intent, license activation attempt or result, trial completion, and broad week-one, week-four, and week-twelve retention checkpoints. Journey timing uses only a trial cohort month and broad age or activation-window ranges. These aggregate milestones cannot be joined into a person-level journey.
Turning analytics off stops future collection and deletes anything waiting to be sent from that Mac. GenCatalog keeps only bounded, opaque local completion markers so turning analytics back on cannot reconstruct or duplicate milestones completed while analytics were off; those markers are never transmitted. Aggregate information already received is anonymous and cannot be traced back to a person or installation.
Second Act Labs never receives your AI images or videos, prompts, filenames, source URLs, tags, notes, collection names, file paths, thumbnails, hashes, item IDs, media IDs, source IDs, generated content, local catalog, generation libraries, account information, or license information through product analytics. We never see your private library information. Not when analytics are on. Not under any circumstances.
3. How Your Data Is Stored
All library data generated by GenCatalog, including saved media files, prompts, metadata, thumbnails, tags, notes, and catalog databases, is stored exclusively on your local machine or external storage device. None of that library content is transmitted to our servers or any third-party service.
4. Chrome Extension Permissions
The GenCatalog Chrome extension requests the following permissions, each used solely for its stated purpose:
- activeTab: To detect AI-generated content on the current page and add save buttons to grid items and detail pages on supported platforms.
- storage: To store extension settings and local extension state needed for save workflows and server communication. This data stays in your browser and is never transmitted externally.
- downloads: To track a Gemini full-size image download after you click a GenCatalog save badge, import that file into your local catalog, and remove the temporary duplicate from Downloads.
- Host permissions for supported AI platforms: To access supported AI generation platforms including Grok Imagine, Gemini, GPT Image, Rogue Studio, Midjourney, Higgsfield, Digen, and Venice.ai. The extension reads page content to extract media URLs, prompts, and metadata for saving to your local catalog.
- Host permission (localhost): To communicate with the companion GenCatalog desktop application running on your local machine. All saved media and metadata is sent only to this local server, never to any external endpoint.
5. Network Communication
The GenCatalog app and extension communicate only with services needed for the functions below:
- Your local machine (localhost): To send saved media and metadata to the companion desktop app.
- Supported AI platforms: To read page content and download media files you choose to save from Grok Imagine, Gemini, GPT Image, Rogue Studio, Midjourney, Higgsfield, Digen, and Venice.ai.
- GenCatalog entitlement service (license.gencatalog.app): For initial activation and periodic subscription or license verification. The desktop app sends the license key and a device-specific activation identifier. The service validates entitlement state with Lemon Squeezy and returns a signed, time-limited access decision. It receives no library files, prompts, tags, notes, filenames, source URLs, file paths, thumbnails, hashes, item IDs, or catalog content.
- GenCatalog download service (downloads.gencatalog.app): To check for and download desktop application updates.
- GenCatalog telemetry endpoint (telemetry.gencatalog.app): When anonymous product analytics are enabled after the notice. Payloads contain limited anonymous counts and coarse product-journey milestones, and never include private library information, account information, license information, or a persistent identifier.
GenCatalog does not communicate with any other external servers, APIs, or services.
6. This Website (gencatalog.app)
The website you're reading now is a normal website, and we treat it like one. It uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people find useful — things like which page brought you here and whether you downloaded the app. Google Analytics sets cookies to do this. We don't collect names, email addresses, or accounts through the site, and website analytics never show us anything from inside your app library.
The site also remembers, in your browser's local storage, how you first arrived (for example, "came from a search engine"). If you start a subscription, that attribution is attached to checkout so we know which pages are actually earning their keep. That's the extent of it.
Website analytics are separate from the app's optional telemetry. The app telemetry toggle controls aggregate app usage statistics only.
7. Third-Party Services
Lemon Squeezy is the Merchant of Record for annual subscriptions. It handles checkout, payment, tax, subscription management, and refunds, and supplies license-validation results to GenCatalog's entitlement service. Its handling of payment and customer information is governed by its own privacy policy. We do not receive your full card details.
The GenCatalog app and extension do not integrate with advertising networks, social media trackers, or data brokers. Optional app telemetry is sent only to GenCatalog-controlled infrastructure.
8. Children's Privacy
GenCatalog is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of GenCatalog after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
